Organoclay for Grease Lubricanting
There are currently three main types of organo clay bentonite used in greases. They are CP-992, CP-34, and CP-250A. The biggest difference between them is to meet the performance requirements of different base oils.
All in all, they achieved high-quality thixotropy, rheology and thickening properties in the different base oils of the grease and performed very well in terms of anti-settling properties.
When using organo bentonite grease, we recommend that you make a pre-gel first, so that the organic clay bentonite can be better dispersed in the system and various properties can be better expressed. At the same time, the longer the pre-gel is placed, the better its performance and stability will be promoted.
Then when making pre-gel, adding polar activators, especially propylene carbonate as activator is our first recommendation.

Organoclay bentonite is a modified bentonite and rheology additive. Organophilic clay can perform its performance normally under high temperature and pressure, especially for long-term use below 180°C.
Organoclay for grease has excellent thickening, anti-corrosion and temperature resistance. , making organobentonite an excellent thickener and rheology agent in greases.

The outer layer of our bags is made of PE film, and the inner layer of the bag is a double-layer paper bag or PE film, which is moisture-proof. This kind of bag has been exported for more than 20 years, and its safety is very suitable for our organobentonite clay.
We recommend that you store it in a cool, dry place with an environment of 0~30℃.
Instructions of organoclay for grease :
There are two methods for adding organo clay bentonite products to grease: direct dry powder method and pre-gel method.
- Dry powder method:
Refers to the direct input of organic bentonite dry powder during the production process, without the need for polar activators. The whole process is to add each raw material in order
- Pre-gel addition method:
For resin systems with poor wettability (such as epoxy, polyester, short oil alkyd resin, etc.), use CP series organic bentonite to make pre-gel in advance.
- The composition of the pre-gel is: 87% solvent, 8-10% organic soil, 3-4% polar activator.
- Pre-gel preparation process: solvent + organic soil (mix and stir for 10 minutes, fully wet), then add polar activator (stir for 5 minutes, fully expand).

When it is used in Grease Lubricant, polar activator is needed. Polar activator is acetone/water(95/5). The dosage of activator is 20%-30% of the weight of CP-720A. And also high shear can promote the dispersing of CP-720A.
Adding procedure as follows:
- If condition permits, heat the base oil to 60~70℃
- Add CP-720A while stirring, addition level is 7%-10% of the total formulation. Stir 5~10minutes
- Add polar activator, addition level is 2%-3% of the total formulation. Then add other additives, stir 25~30minutes.
- Use pump to help it pass colloid grinding and homogenizer.
- Deair, filtrate, pack.
Note: With High-speed dispersant of grinding machine, and properly prolong the dispersing time, better gelatin performance can be reached.
The Lubricanting grease which uses organoclay as thickener will own high dropping point, thus can be used under high temperature and presents good impermeability and water resistance.
