Request the Correct Organoclay Product Document

Organoclay is supplied in different grades for different formulation systems and processing routes. Typical Values, Specifications and Batch Results Are Not the Same

Many industrial technical data sheets report typical or representative properties. These values help formulators understand the product, but they do not automatically define a guaranteed acceptance range. A procurement specification states the requirements agreed for supply, while a COA reports the measured results for a particular batch. The document itself should state how each value is classified.

  • Typical value: a representative technical value used to describe the product under stated conditions.
  • Specification limit: an approved minimum, maximum or range used to judge conformity.
  • Batch result: a measured result associated with a named lot or batch on its COA.
  • Formulation result: performance measured in a buyer’s complete system, which requires a defined preparation and test method.

When two documents appear inconsistent, first check whether they refer to the same grade, unit, method, temperature, conditioning time and revision. Ask for technical clarification instead of converting units or filling missing conditions by assumption.

How to Compare Two Organoclay Datasheets Responsibly
